Aloha Tower

Standing at Pier 9 in Honolulu Harbor since 1926, the Aloha Tower was Hawaii's tallest building at the time of its completion. It takes its name from the ALOHA letters displayed above its four clock faces, each pointing to a cardinal direction. During its heyday in the 1920s and 1930s, 'Boat Day' was a full cultural occasion — locals greeted arriving ocean liners with lei garlands, hula dancing, and live music on the dock. The tower is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the surrounding Aloha Tower Marketplace clusters shops, restaurants, and cafés around its base. The tenth-floor observation deck offers an open view across the working harbor and the Honolulu skyline.
