Khabarovsk Bridge

The Khabarovsk Bridge crosses the Amur River seven kilometres north of the city centre and ranks among the most significant engineering structures in Russia's Far East. Its two-deck design carries the M58 Amur federal highway on the upper level and Trans-Siberian Railway tracks on the lower. The original bridge, built between 1913 and 1916 under Tsar Nicholas II, effectively completed the unbroken rail link of the Trans-Siberian Railway across the continent. Decades of use left the structure in disrepair, prompting a full reconstruction from 1992 onward; the rebuilt 2,599-metre span was opened in stages between 1998 and 2009. From the riverbank, the crossing offers sweeping views across the wide Amur and into the vast Siberian lowlands beyond.
