Bloomfield-Nulhegan River Route 102 Bridge

The Bloomfield-Nulhegan River Route 102 Bridge carries Vermont Route 102 over the Nulhegan River just before it meets the Connecticut River, near Bloomfield Village. Built in 1937, it is a well-preserved Pratt through truss — a steel bridge form in which diagonal members carry tension and verticals carry compression, a then state-of-the-art design for mid-span rural highway crossings. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, it survives as one of the more intact examples of 1930s truss bridge engineering in northern Vermont, reflecting the era's federally driven infrastructure investment.
