Medieval castle complex above the Aragvi River featuring a church, tower, and panoramic views over the Zhinvali Reservoir.
Ananuri is a striking medieval castle complex perched above the Aragvi River in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia. Its oldest sections date to the 13th century, while the distinctive main tower and church were built in the early 17th century. The fortress served as the seat of the Aragvi dynasty and held strategic importance along the Georgian Military Highway. Today Ananuri is one of Georgia's most visited landmarks and is on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list. From the upper tower, visitors enjoy a stunning view over the turquoise Zhinvali Reservoir and the peaks of the Greater Caucasus.
