Antandrus

Antandrus was an Aeolian Greek coastal city in the ancient region of the Troad, situated roughly two kilometres east of modern Altınoluk on the Bay of Adramyttion. Its settlement area was constrained by the local topography to just a few hectares, making it a modest but strategically placed polis along the Anatolian coastline. The site gained mention in ancient sources for the forests of nearby Mount Ida — Thucydides records that the Persians used the area to source timber for shipbuilding. Today the site is only partially excavated, with finds spanning the Archaic through Byzantine periods, offering archaeologists a long stratigraphic record of continuous habitation.
