Ashdown Park

Ashdown House is a compact Restoration-era country house built around 1662 in the parish of Ashbury, Oxfordshire — administratively part of Berkshire until 1974. Constructed for William Craven, it is considered one of the most distinctive examples of Dutch-influenced Stuart architecture in England and holds Grade I listed status. The house is particularly noted for its collection of portraits connected to Elizabeth Stuart, the 'Winter Queen' of Bohemia, for whom Craven reportedly built it. The National Trust now manages the estate, and the surrounding parkland and woodland walks offer quiet rambles through the chalk downland landscape.
