Association pour la Sauvegarde du Vicinal
The Association pour la Sauvegarde du Vicinal (ASVi) runs Belgium's foremost tram preservation museum in Thuin, Hainaut province, dedicated to the historic narrow-gauge network of the Société nationale des chemins de fer vicinaux (SNCV). The SNCV once operated one of Europe's most extensive interurban tramway systems, and ASVi has assembled a substantial collection of rolling stock — trams, freight wagons, and service vehicles — most of which served the dense network around Charleroi. Some vehicles are operational on preserved track sections, offering a rare hands-on encounter with Belgian vicinal railway heritage. A bicycle rental on-site makes it easy to combine the museum with the surrounding Walloon countryside.
