Amstetten (Württemberg) station sits on the Filstalbahn main line, perched on the plateau above the steep Geislinger Steige gradient. It once served as the junction for two branch lines: the Amstetten–Gerstetten line and the Amstetten–Laichingen narrow-gauge railway, the latter now operating only seasonally as a heritage museum railway as far as Oppingen. DB InfraGO administers the site as three distinct operational units, including a separate narrow-gauge station. For railway enthusiasts it is a quiet remnant of Württemberg's rural branch-line era, with the seasonal narrow-gauge runs providing the main reason to visit.
