Blumenthal Observation Tower

The Blumenthal observation tower, located northeast of the village of Blumenthal near Heiligengrabe in Brandenburg's Ostprignitz district, stands 44.65 metres tall and ranks as the third-tallest wooden observation tower in Germany, surpassed only by the Jahrtausendturm in Magdeburg and the Eichbergturm in Thuringia. Built between 2003 and 2004 entirely from timber, it blends structurally with the forested landscape surrounding it. From the top platform, visitors get an unobstructed 360-degree view over the flat lake-studded countryside of the Ostprignitz. It serves as a popular waypoint on regional hiking and cycling routes.
