Josefswarte, Perchtoldsdorf

The Josefswarte is a twelve-metre steel observation tower perched on the summit of the Hinterer Föhrenberg in the Naturpark Föhrenberge, part of the Wienerwald just south of Perchtoldsdorf. Listed as a protected monument under Austrian heritage law, it sits close to the Kammersteinerhütte mountain hut and marks the high point of the Höllenstein ridge. On clear days the platform offers sweeping views across the Vienna Basin toward the Alps. As of September 2025 the tower itself is closed indefinitely, though the surrounding nature reserve and its marked hiking trails remain open.
