Sanya railway station
Post-War Era
Baumholder station is the terminus of the Heimbach–Baumholder railway line in Rhineland-Palatinate's Birkenfeld district. Its most distinctive chapter came after 1981, when regular passenger services ceased entirely and the station was repurposed solely for military freight — serving the US Army and the Bundeswehr, whose nearby training ground is one of the largest in Western Europe. That arrangement lasted until December 2014, leaving the station today as a quiet infrastructure relic of the region's decades-long military presence.
