Eichenberg railway station

Eichenberg station sits at the eastern edge of the small community of Neu-Eichenberg in northern Hesse's Werra-Meißner district, at the tripoint where Hesse, Lower Saxony, and Thuringia meet. During Germany's division, this geographical quirk gave the station its defining role as a border halt: westbound trains terminated here as the line crossed into East German territory. Since reunification it has reverted to a quiet regional stop, retaining little beyond its Cold War-era significance as a frontier junction.
