Hohenlimburg station is the sole rail stop for the Hohenlimburg district of Hagen, opened on 21 March 1859 as part of the Ruhr-Sieg line — one of the early rail corridors linking the Sauerland to the Ruhr industrial region. The station building dates from the founding era of the German rail network in the 19th century. Today it serves primarily as a commuter stop between Hagen and the Sauerland.
