Bando No.31 Kasamori-ji

Kasamori-ji, also known as Kasamori Kannon, is a Tendai Buddhist temple set in forested hills in Chōnan, Chiba Prefecture, roughly 80 kilometres southeast of central Tokyo. It serves as the 31st station on the Bandō pilgrimage circuit, one of the oldest Buddhist pilgrimage routes in the Kantō region, comprising 33 temples each dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon. The temple's mountain name — Daihisan — reflects its setting deep in woodland, giving it a contemplative atmosphere uncommon among more accessible temple sites. Open daily from 08:00 to 16:30, it draws a steady flow of pilgrims completing the full 33-temple Bandō circuit on foot or by car.
