The Calvary of Banská Štiavnica is a baroque pilgrimage complex built between 1744 and 1751 on a wooded hill above the historic Slovak mining town. The ensemble comprises 25 stations — 24 chapels, two churches, a Holy Staircase, and a sculptural group of the Sorrowful Mother beneath the Cross — designed as a symbolic re-enactment of Christ's Passion in an open-air setting. Together with the town's medieval old town and surrounding mining monuments, the complex forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking the full circuit rewards visitors with a rare, largely intact example of Counter-Reformation devotional architecture and sweeping views across the valley below.
