Schankweiler Klause

Schankweiler Klause is a former hermitage with a baroque pilgrimage chapel in the municipality of Schankweiler in the Eifel district of Bitburg-Prüm, Rhineland-Palatinate. The secluded site traces back to an eremitic tradition and today serves as a pilgrimage destination dedicated to Mary, Mother of Good Counsel — a Marian icon tradition originating in 15th-century Albania. Listed as a protected cultural monument, its baroque chapel architecture stands in quiet contrast to the surrounding Eifel woodland. Visitors find an intimate, forest-enclosed sacred space that has retained a genuine pilgrimage atmosphere well away from mainstream tourism.
