Canning Town
Transport Hub
Barcelona-Catalunya is the city's busiest underground interchange, sitting beneath the Plaça de Catalunya at the boundary of the Barri Gòtic and Eixample districts. Open since 1929, it now connects four metro lines with Renfe and FGC commuter rail services — two operationally separate rail networks converging at a single point. The station is fully wheelchair accessible and clearly signed, but functions purely as a transit node rather than a destination. It is the practical starting point for exploring central Barcelona; the city itself begins at street level, one flight of stairs away.
