Basilica of St. Adalbert
Church BuildingCatholicNeo-Romanesque+3
The Basilica of the Good Lord Jesus in Tremembé, São Paulo state, is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church holding the title of Basilica minor within the Diocese of Taubaté. Its origins date to 1672, when a colonial baroque church was first erected here during the early Portuguese settlement of the São Paulo interior. The Bom Jesus dedication — a widespread Brazilian devotion to Christ as the suffering yet miraculous Lord — has drawn regional pilgrims to this site for more than three centuries. The church stands as a quiet but enduring example of early Brazilian ecclesiastical architecture, modest in scale yet significant as a focal point of local faith and popular devotion.
