Our Lady of Mercy Church

The Basilica of Nuestra Señora de la Merced in Buenos Aires is one of the Argentine capital's historic religious landmarks — an eclectic 1900 church built on the site of an earlier Mercedarian monastery and dedicated to Mary of the Ransoming of Captives. A protected heritage site in the San Nicolás neighbourhood, it preserves the memory of the Mercedarian mission in colonial South America while serving as an active parish in one of downtown Buenos Aires' oldest districts.
