Mariatrost Basilica

Also known as: Wallfahrtskirche Mariatrost, Pfarrkirche Mariatrost, Pfarr- und Wallfahrtskirche Mariatrost · +2

The Mariatrost Basilica on the Purberg hill is Styria's most important pilgrimage site — a Baroque church from 1714 that crowns a hill on the eastern edge of Graz and is visible from kilometres around. The former Pauline and later Franciscan monastery complex commands sweeping views over the Graz basin, making the ascent a rewarding experience for pilgrims and walkers who want a panorama alongside their devotion.
