Basilica San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro
Milan
The Basilica of Saint Severinus is a Romanesque collegiate church in the northwest of Bordeaux's historic center, listed as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site for the Routes of Santiago de Compostela since 1998. It bears the name of Severin, the 5th-century bishop and patron saint of Bordeaux, and served as a major halt on the Via Turonensis — one of the four principal French pilgrimage roads to Santiago de Compostela. Beneath the nave lies one of the region's most remarkable archaeological layers: an early medieval crypt containing Merovingian sarcophagi and the remnants of a 4th-century paleo-Christian baptistery uncovered during excavations. Pilgrims walking the Camino today still stop here to collect a stamp in their credencial, maintaining a tradition of over a thousand years.
