Barikot Ghundai

Barikot Ghundai is an archaeological mound on the southern edge of the Swat Valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Scholars widely identify it with ancient Bazira, a fortified city mentioned by Arrian in his account of Alexander the Great's Indus campaign of 327–326 BCE. Italian archaeological missions have uncovered stratified occupation layers here that trace the Greco-Bactrian influence on early Gandharan Buddhist art. The site is poorly signposted and difficult to access independently, making it primarily a destination for those with a specific interest in Central Asian antiquity.
