Baths of Faustina

The Baths of Faustina are a well-preserved Roman bath complex dating to the late 2nd century AD, named after Faustina the Younger, wife of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. They form part of the ancient city of Miletus, once one of the most influential Greek and Roman cities in Asia Minor. The complex retains large vaulted halls and clear traces of a hypocaust underfloor heating system — concrete evidence of the sophisticated engineering Roman bath culture required. Visitors walk among open-air ruins of arched walls and column bases, with no modern shelter between them and the layered stonework, giving the site a raw archaeological immediacy.
