Bebresh Viaduct

The Bebresh Viaduct is a beam bridge carrying the Hemus Motorway (A2) across the Bebresh river valley at roughly 650 metres elevation in the Murgash range, a spur of the Balkan Mountains. Designed by an engineering team from the state construction company Moststroj AD and opened in 1986, it stands as one of the last major infrastructure projects of Bulgaria's socialist era. It remains the highest bridge in Bulgaria. Drivers heading toward the Vitiniya Pass get a sudden, unobstructed view across the forested mountain valley roughly 42 kilometres northeast of Sofia.
