Bayrakli Mosque

The Bayrakli Mosque in the small Bulgarian town of Samokow is an Ottoman place of worship built in 1845, one of the few surviving examples of Islamic religious architecture in the region. Constructed during the late Ottoman period on the Balkan peninsula, it features a domed form with characteristic Ottoman proportions. Listed as a Bulgarian cultural monument of national significance, it stands as a tangible reminder of the religious plurality that shaped the area for centuries. Samokow was a notable trading and craft center in the 19th century, which accounts for the presence of such a representative religious structure.
