Bell Tower

The Bell Tower is a 31-storey office building in downtown Edmonton, completed in 1982 at 130 metres tall. Originally known as the Canadian Commercial Bank Tower, it housed the headquarters of that bank until its collapse in 1985 — the first major Canadian bank failure since the Great Depression, an event that prompted significant reforms to Canadian banking oversight. Today the building operates as standard multi-tenant office space, with Bell Canada among its current occupants giving the tower its present name.
