Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria di Torino

The Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria di Torino occupies the former royal stables of the Palazzo Carignano on Piazza Carlo Alberto, a Baroque complex originally built for the House of Savoy. Founded in 1720, the library is one of Italy's major national libraries and operates under the Italian Ministry of Culture. Its holdings span centuries of manuscripts, early printed books, and academic collections accumulated during its long life as a university library. Designated an Italian national monument, the building itself carries architectural significance beyond its contents. Reading rooms are open Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 16:00; wheelchair access is limited.
