Bienne
The Bienne is a roughly 69-kilometre river in the French Département Jura (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté), rising under the name Biennette in the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park near the Mont Fier summit. At Morez, a geological fault line forces the river to pivot abruptly from a northeastward to a southwestward course, carving through limestone to form the Gorges de la Bienne — a narrow, dramatic canyon popular with hikers and canoeists. The river ultimately flows into the reservoir of Lac de Vouglans near Chancia.
