Bismarckturm Kallstadt

The Bismarck Tower on the Peterskopf (493.5 m) at the eastern edge of the Palatinate Forest is a 36-metre sandstone observation tower built during the German Empire and operated by the Drachenfels-Club. It is part of a nationwide wave of Bismarck monuments — over 170 towers constructed between 1869 and 1934 to honour Chancellor Otto von Bismarck following German unification in 1871. On clear days the viewing platform offers panoramic views across the Rhine plain toward the Black Forest and, on the best days, the Vosges mountains in France. Entry carries a fee, with the Drachenfels-Club maintaining the tower as a hiking destination along the Palatinate wine route.
