Blacks Beach

Black's Beach is a roughly three-kilometer stretch of coastline below the 90-meter sandstone bluffs of La Jolla, just north of San Diego. It is Southern California's most well-known de facto nude beach — never officially designated as such, which lends the place a semi-wild, legally ambiguous character that has defined it for decades. Getting there requires either a steep scramble down crumbling cliff paths or a long walk through Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, which filters out casual visitors and keeps the beach comparatively uncrowded. The reward is an unusually raw stretch of Pacific coast: red sandstone cliffs, strong surf, and almost no development in sight.
