Boardwalk Hall

Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall — known until 2001 as Atlantic City Convention Hall — is a monumental Art Deco venue built between 1926 and 1929 by architectural firm Lockwood-Greene & Co., sitting directly on Atlantic City's famous oceanfront Boardwalk. Its main hall spans over 41,000 square feet under one of the largest column-free ceilings in North America, an engineering feat that was extraordinary for its era. For decades it served as the home of the Miss America pageant, cementing its cultural status well beyond New Jersey. Today it functions as a concert and sports arena, and houses the Emerson Pipe Organ — with over 33,000 pipes, one of the largest operational pipe organs in the world — drawing organ enthusiasts even outside regular event schedules.
