Adolphus Hotel

The Adolphus Hotel opened in 1912 on Main Street in downtown Dallas, making it one of the finest surviving examples of Beaux-Arts architecture in the American South. Funded by Adolphus Busch of Anheuser-Busch fame, the building held the title of tallest structure in Texas for several years after its opening, a statement of ambition befitting the era. It has hosted numerous U.S. presidents and is said to have been a personal favorite of Queen Elizabeth II on her American travels. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the hotel today retains its ornate coffered ceilings and crystal chandeliers through careful restoration, and its lobby bar remains a lively social anchor in the heart of Dallas's downtown.
