Bodega Head

Bodega Head is a rugged coastal promontory on California's Sonoma Coast, about 40 miles northwest of San Francisco. Jutting into the Pacific at the mouth of Bodega Bay, it offers some of the most accessible open-ocean views in Northern California. From January through April, gray whales pass close enough to spot from the clifftops during their northward migration, making it a reliable whale-watching vantage point without a boat. A short loop trail circles the headland, tracing the cliff edge above crashing surf with views back across the bay.
