Borsigplatz

Borsigplatz is a circular star-shaped square in Dortmund's northeastern Nordstadt district, with six streets radiating outward from a tree-lined central island crossed by a tram line — technically not a roundabout under German traffic law, despite appearances. The surrounding Gründerzeit-era buildings are protected as a listed monument. The square holds particular significance for football fans: Borussia Dortmund was founded in 1909 in the immediate vicinity, making Borsigplatz the historic birthplace of the BVB. Today it serves as a lively neighborhood hub at the heart of Dortmund's diverse Nordstadt quarter.
