Bosniak Institute
The Bosniak Institute — Adil Zulfikarpašić Foundation is a cultural and research institution in Sarajevo established in 1988 by entrepreneur and philanthropist Adil Zulfikarpašić, who founded it from his Swiss exile to preserve and promote Bosniak cultural heritage. It brings together a museum, gallery, library of roughly 40,000 volumes, historical archive, and publishing house in a single building — an unusual concentration of cultural infrastructure for the region. Founded at a time when Bosniak identity was politically marginalized in Yugoslavia, the institute has served as a deliberate act of cultural memory-keeping. Visitors can explore rotating exhibitions on Bosnian history and fine art alongside one of the most specialized collections on Bosnian and Ottoman Balkan heritage in existence.
