Botanischer Garten

The Botanical Garden of the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg is a working teaching and research garden spread across roughly 9 hectares near the university campus. Its current location, in use since 1960, is named after Julius von Sachs, the influential Würzburg plant physiologist whose 19th-century research laid groundwork for understanding photosynthesis. The garden functions as a hands-on learning resource for biology and teacher-training students, while remaining open to the general public free of charge. Wheelchair-accessible paths wind through the outdoor beds and greenhouses, with opening hours running until 18:00 in summer and 16:00 in winter.
