Boven National Park

Boven National Park on Sint Eustatius — a small Dutch Caribbean island — protects the forested crater and slopes of the extinct volcano The Quill, along with surrounding rainforest terrain. Managed by the nature conservation organization STENAPA since 1998, the park shelters an unusually rich Caribbean flora and fauna, including rare orchids, endemic reptiles, and diverse migratory bird species. The trail up into the crater winds through subtropical rainforest before opening into a lush interior choked with tree ferns and lianas — a quiet contrast to the island's coastal scenery.
