Branicki Palace

Branicki Palace is a Baroque mansion in the heart of Białystok, expanded in the 18th century by Jan Klemens Branicki, one of the most powerful magnates in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Already in his own lifetime the estate earned the nickname 'Versailles of the North' for its sweeping formal gardens — symmetrical alleys, sculpted terraces, and ornamental figures clearly inspired by the French royal model at Versailles. Heavily damaged during World War II, the palace was meticulously reconstructed and now houses the Medical University of Białystok. The surrounding park remains open to the public, offering a quietly grand baroque garden experience in the city center.
