Brean Down

Brean Down is a prominent limestone headland on the Somerset coast, stretching roughly 2 kilometres into the Bristol Channel and rising to 97 metres above sea level. It sits at the eastern end of Bridgwater Bay between Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea, forming one of the most striking natural features along this otherwise flat coastline. A footpath runs along the spine of the promontory to its tip, rewarding walkers with wide views across the Bristol Channel toward the Welsh coast and the islands of Steep Holm and Flat Holm. The steep cliff edges and persistent sea wind give the walk a bracing, exposed character, particularly atmospheric around dusk.
