Bishop's Palace

Llandaff Palace is the ruin of the fortified medieval residence of the Bishops of Llandaff, situated in the quiet suburb of Llandaff in northwest Cardiff. Dating back to the 13th century, the palace served as the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Llandaff for several hundred years, positioned close to the adjacent Llandaff Cathedral. The complex fell into disrepair during and after the Reformation, leaving behind substantial but roofless stone walls. Classified as both a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Monument, it ranks among Wales's most protected medieval ecclesiastical sites. Today the ruins sit within a maintained parkland, offering a contemplative atmosphere with an unmistakable sense of medieval decay.
