The Bridge of Remembrance is a neoclassical triumphal arch and war memorial at the eastern end of the Cashel Street Bridge in central Christchurch, completed in 1924. Originally dedicated to New Zealand's fallen of World War I, its commemorative scope was later extended to include those who died in World War II and subsequent conflicts in Korea, Malaya, Borneo, and Vietnam. The arch was damaged in the devastating 2011 Christchurch earthquake but has since been carefully restored. It stands at the gateway to the city's pedestrian mall and serves as the focal point of annual ANZAC Day ceremonies, drawing quiet crowds of locals and visitors alike.
