1st Armoured Division Monument

Also known as: Monument to the 1st Armoured Division (Poland)

The 1st Armoured Division Memorial stands at Disabled People Square near Wojska Polskiego Avenue in Warsaw, unveiled on 30 September 1995. It commemorates the 1st Armoured Division of the Polish Armed Forces, which fought under British command in Western Europe during the Second World War — most notably at the Battle of the Falaise Pocket in 1944, where it played a decisive role in encircling German forces. Designed by sculptor Jerzy Sikorski and architect Andrzej Kiciński, the bronze and granite monument is a quiet site of remembrance off Warsaw's main tourist routes.
