Arco ai Caduti

The Arco della Vittoria — also known as Arco ai Caduti — is a neoclassical triumphal arch standing at the center of Piazza della Vittoria in southern Genoa, erected after World War I to commemorate the city's fallen soldiers. Designated an Italian national monument, the pale stone arch draws on antique Roman forms and is framed by the symmetrical geometry of an interwar urban plaza, typical of Italian civic memorial design from the 1920s. The Piazza della Vittoria is one of Liguria's largest squares and today functions primarily as a transit hub, meaning the monument is passed daily by commuters and locals who rarely stop — making a deliberate visit a notably quiet, unhurried experience.
