Citi Field

Citi Field is the home stadium of the New York Mets in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens, opened in 2009 with 41,922 seats. The playing field geometry and red-brick facade are a deliberate homage to Ebbets Field, the legendary Brooklyn Dodgers home from 1913 to 1957. Behind the main entrance the Jackie Robinson Rotunda opens up, with a wall of quotes honoring the first African American MLB player. Citi Field replaced the neighboring Shea Stadium, built for the 1964 World's Fair and demolished after the 2008 season. Beyond Mets home games, the stadium hosted the 2013 MLB All-Star Game and regularly stages concerts and soccer matches. Access via the 7 line (Mets-Willets Point) is direct, with Long Island Rail Road stopping right next door. Just outside lies Flushing Meadows Corona Park with the 1964 Unisphere.
