Caledonian Road

Caledonian Road is a Piccadilly line station in the London Borough of Islington, sitting in Travelcard Zone 2 and serving mainly local commuters from northern Islington. Its surface building is Grade II listed and stands as one of architect Leslie Green's signature early 20th-century Underground stations, instantly recognisable by the deep ox-blood red glazed terracotta tiles he deployed across an entire generation of London Underground entrances. Green's Arts and Crafts approach gave these stations a coherent street presence that still reads as distinctly Edwardian amid the surrounding urban fabric. The station is fully wheelchair accessible, and Pentonville Prison lies roughly 400 metres to the south.
