Cambridge Circus

Cambridge Circus is a junction in London's West End, roughly halfway between Tottenham Court Road and Leicester Square Underground stations, where Shaftesbury Avenue meets Charing Cross Road. The space was created in 1887 as part of the great Victorian slum-clearance programme and named after a visit by the Prince of Wales. Its dominant building is the red brick Palace Theatre of 1891. Today the corner fills up each evening with theatre-goers, customers heading to nearby Foyles bookshop and visitors walking on toward Chinatown. The crossing is one of the busiest hinges between Soho and Covent Garden.
