Chiltern Open Air Museum

The Chiltern Open Air Museum is an open-air museum in Buckinghamshire between Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles, about 37 kilometres north-west of London. Founded in 1976, it rescues buildings from the Chiltern Hills that would otherwise have been demolished and rebuilds them on its 18-hectare site, among them a Tudor barn from Arborfield, a Victorian granary and a 1950s public toilet block. Visitors can enter the interiors, watch craft demonstrations such as chair bodging or blacksmithing and walk through fields with traditional English livestock breeds like Tamworth pigs or Oxford Down sheep. In summer costumed actors stage living history events. A natural day trip from London for families with children.
