City Hall MRT station
Also known as: NS25, EW13
City Hall MRT station lies beneath Stamford Road in the Civic District and is one of five Singapore metro nodes with cross-platform interchange. On two stacked platforms, the North South Line and the East West Line stop in such a way that passengers can change to the opposite line without stairs or lifts. The station opened in 1987 as part of the first MRT phase. Exits lead directly to the National Gallery, Raffles Hotel, the Padang and the Raffles City Mall. On weekdays City Hall is the third busiest MRT interchange in the city after Raffles Place and Jurong East. To see the elegant cross-platform trick in action, just stand there between 8 and 9 in the morning.
