Craven Cottage

Craven Cottage is the home ground of Fulham FC, on the north bank of the Thames in Hammersmith and Fulham. The name goes back to a 1780 hunting lodge built by William Craven that stood here amid marsh and woodland and burned down in 1888. The club moved onto the site in 1896; the still-surviving Johnny Haynes Stand with its brick gable facade and the corner Cottage pavilion were built in 1905 by Archibald Leitch, architect of the great Victorian football arenas. Both structures are Grade II listed. Since 2019 the old Riverside Stand has been demolished to make way for a new tribune, which will raise capacity to about 29,600. Anyone without a match ticket can walk the Thames Path past the ground or take one of the stadium tours that includes the small Cottage room with club trophies.
