Chengdu Sports Centre

The Chengdu Sports Center Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in central Chengdu with a capacity of around 40,000. Built in 1991, it is now used mainly for football and is the home ground of the Chengdu Blades. In 2007 it hosted matches of the FIFA Women's World Cup. The architecture is functional rather than landmark. For sports travellers it is worth a visit on match days; on other days the atmosphere is quiet and most visitors only see the stadium from the outside.
